My Inspiration

by ministamper

Cardmaking, Scrapbooking, Papercrafting, whatever you do, it takes either great ‘mojo’ or a lot of inspiration. I talk to so many people about Stampin’ Up! and always hear, “I can’t do that” or “i’m not talented enough to make things like you do”, it’s amazing what these people have to say after you have taken them through a workshop and they are all chuffed with their make and take’ project.

I can usually look at things and work out how to make it, but at the same time I also get’ creative block’ and don’t know what i’m doing with myself, when that happens I read magazines and ‘search the internet’, there are so many sites out there showing finished projects and technique examples. so when you are sitting at swimming lessons or little athletics, take your laptop and search the net for some inspiration.

Sarah Klass – Sarah has been a great source of help and inspiration, because she has been around so long (is that the right way to say it…?) with Stampin’ Up! and she likes to test and try EVERYTHING, she can always help answer my questions, whether it be about SU in general or help with my website and techniques. Sarah always has the time and nothing is too much trouble, it’s my ambition to be an upline just like Sarah, although I don’t think ANYTHING I do will give me her height…. LOL

Chic’ n Scratch – Angie, what can I say about Angie, I LOVE her, I have watched every video she has made, I have CASED so many of her projects. I even donated to her site and she sent me a present. I so wish I lived near her to attend her classes. I love how her projects are quick and simple yet look so gorgeous. Thanks Angie for your continued inspiration.

A Klass Act – This is a forum for the team of demonstrators and downlines attached to Sarah, there are a few of us who seem to be ‘online’ quite a lot, we post photos, questions and general SU stuff. It ‘s a great resource and way to chat to the ‘other girls’ whilst still being at home.

Michelle’s Stamping Spot – Michelle is my upline and she is a laugh. Michelle has helped me get started with my website, held my first workshop “for me’ and assisted me when I ran my first demo table at the markets. Michelle is always ready to help when the time arises and she is so much fun to stamp with.

Just Add Ink – I am only just about to start with the challenges from JAI (this is Aug 2010). This site is made up of a team of demonstrators who post techniques and weekly challenges, I think challenges are a great way to get your own creative mind working instead of CASING other people’s work. I am going to complete my first challenge this week (Fri 20 Aug challenge) and intend to participate weekly when work permits.

My Pink Stamper – I don’t watch Robyn as much as I used to because I prefer using Stampin’ Up! products to the cricut, but Robyn’s videos taught me how to use my cricut after I had it for two years, whilst watching her videos she was always using Stampin’ Up! cardstock (she used to be a demonstrator) and this led me to to Stampin’ Up! and becoming a demonstrator, so thanks Robyn for your teachings and leading me to Stampin’ Up!

Andrea Walford – Andrea is an SU demonstrator in Canada, the particular part about Andrea that inspires me is when I found her inspiration book, I took one look at it and said ‘that’s for me’, so I have started my own book (which is very similar to Andrea’s) but I won’t get it finished until Oct-Nov 2010, I could only do so much then wait for all the new colours, ribbons, DSP etc that were coming out in the new catalogue. I think it’s a great idea to have something a bit bigger than a thumbnail pic to show your customers to help with their purchase decisions.

Mary Fish – Mary is a US demonstrator, she does LOVELY work and I like to just pop in and see what she’s up to.

Splitcoast Stampers – This is a great site, but the only downside is ‘It’s massive’ so you can spend hours just looking and not actually get any work done. Splitcoast also has an area just for SU demonstrators and we can go in and have a look at what people are making with each and every stamp set, it’s a great resource.

Dawn’s Stamping Thoughts – Dawn is another successful US demonstrator and just like Mary I pop in every now and then to see what she is up to. I also LOVE her blog header.

So Shelli – I’ve never met Shelli but I admire that she has taken her dream to levels that I bet she never imagined. She also did this with a large growing family who all seem to get on so well (I love that)… I just pop into her site every now and then for a squizzy and hope to one day meet her in person (maybe May 2011 at the Melbourne Convention).

OK, now I can say that I have met Shelli at the 2011 Stampin’ Up! Convention in Melbourne, she is really as lovely as everyone says, I gave her a gift, being my owl, Flower and Bird brooches and she was really humble about receiving them, it was really nice :)
